Developer seeking community input

Seaward Properties Ltd, a Chichester based property developer, will be hosting a public exhibition on Wednesday 10^th February at the New Alresford Community Centre to discuss the future development of land to the east of Sun Lane.

Now the Local Plan is heading towards submission to the Secretary of State for examination (expected in March 2016), Seaward Properties is looking to bring together a masterplan to support the City Council in its Local Plan process and would like to hear local views on what the masterplan should include.

The Sun Lane site can deliver the remaining 320 new homes, including affordable housing, required for the town in the Local Plan, but it also provides a number of wider benefits for the town, including land for new employment opportunities, 15 hectares (37 acres) of accessible public open space, as well as improvements to the local road network, and allow for the expansion of the Sun Hill schools - all under a single land ownership.

Steve Culpitt, Land & Planning Director at Seaward Properties explained:

"New Alresford has to deliver new homes - so why not get the most out of the future development for the town. Sun Lane is a unique opportunity to deliver the new homes required under the Local Plan, along with new employment premises, new transport links and a very large area of public open space.

"Because of the opportunities this site presents, we would like residents to help us shape these exciting plans for New Alresford. For example, we can deliver 15 hectares of public open space on Sun Lane - we'd like to know what the local community think this should be used for and how it could look."

The exhibition will take place at Alresford Community Centre on West Street on Wednesday 10^th February 2016, between 4pm and 8pm. The team will be available to talk to you about the concept masterplan, its constraints and opportunities and listen to what you think future development of the housing and open space at the site could look like.
